Ademola Adeleke, just re-elected governor of Osun state, has restated his endorsement President Bola Tinubu for a second term in the 2027 presidential election.

Adeleke is of the Accord party while Tinubu is a member of the All Progressives Congress (APC).

Accord is not participating in the presidential election.

The governor was speaking at a press conference on Sunday, shortly after the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) declared him the winner of the August 15 governorship election.

Nearly one million votes were cast in the election.

The governor described Tinubu as a son of Osun state and reaffirmed his support for the president’s re-election bid.

“At this point, I must deeply appreciate Mr. President, His Excellency Senator Bola Ahmed Tinubu, for his strong support for a free and fair election,” he said.

“Mr. President is a son of Osun state, and I hereby reaffirm my earlier endorsement of him for a second term in the 2027 presidential election.”

Adeleke, the candidate of the Accord Party, won in 19 local government areas, while Bola Oyebamiji of the All Progressives Congress (APC) secured victory in 11 LGAs.

Oyebamiji finished second with 444,815 votes, while Najeem Salaam, candidate of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), came a distant third with 17,180 votes.

The election was held amid apprehension and tension following reports of violence and attacks in the days leading up to the poll.
