For 4 Years, This Man Has Been Dancing, Governor Okpebholo Mocks Adeleke’s Dancing at Osun Rally

Edo State Governor, Monday Okpebholo has criticised Osun State Governor, Ademola Adeleke, accusing him of prioritising entertainment over governance as campaigns intensify ahead of the August 15 governorship election in Osun State.

Okpebholo made the remarks during an All Progressives Congress (APC) campaign rally in support of the party’s governorship candidate, Bola Oyebamiji, amid heightened political tension in the state.

The Osun governorship contest has drawn nationwide attention in recent days, particularly following the freezing of the Osun State Government’s statutory allocation account by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission. Governor Adeleke and opposition figures have condemned the move as politically motivated, while the anti-graft agency insists it is part of an ongoing investigation.

Addressing APC supporters, Okpebholo questioned Adeleke’s leadership style, alleging that the governor spends more time dancing than governing.

“Before somebody sign paper, he will dance, are you not tired? For four years, this man has been dancing. Before he take breakfast, before he drink tea, he will dance. I can’t even remember when I saw this man in our general meeting. Before he even enters the plane, he will dance. Before he gets there, we have closed. So, he won’t know what we are saying, he doesn’t know the reality of today,” he said.

The Edo governor also urged Osun voters not to be swayed by financial inducements during the election, alleging that political opponents planned to influence the poll through vote buying.

“If they bring money, collect it, but don’t vote for them. They said they have money to spend. Just collect the money and keep it in your pocket,” he said.

Okpebholo further linked Adeleke to former Edo State governor, Godwin Obaseki, urging Osun voters to reject the incumbent in the same way, he claimed, Edo voters rejected Obaseki’s political camp.

“That man is Obaseki’s friend. We kicked Obaseki out of Edo, so we have to kick his friend out of this place too. Edo people collected Obaseki’s money but did not vote for him,” he stated.

He also questioned Adeleke’s performance in office, saying:

“A governor that is not working, the best thing to do is to send him out of the state. If he is not working, what business does he have here? Are you not tired of a dancing governor?”

The comments add to the growing war of words ahead of the Osun governorship election. Governor Adeleke has repeatedly accused the APC-led Federal Government of attempting to influence the outcome of the poll, particularly after the EFCC froze the state’s statutory allocation account.

Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar has also criticised the action, describing it as an assault on democracy and alleging that anti-corruption agencies were being used against opposition-controlled states.

The APC has rejected the allegations, insisting that the election will be free, fair and credible while urging Osun residents to support its candidate.
