The AC Milan and Italy legend – arguably the greatest centre back of all time – has died aged 66.
A one-club man, he spent 20 years as a player at Milan – winning multiple Serie A titles and three Champions League trophies.
He won 81 caps for Italy, winning the 1982 World Cup and starring at Italia ‘90 and USA ‘94.
His most famous performance came at the age of 34 in the 1994 World Cup final against Brazil. In that game, a half-fit Baresi returned for the final three weeks after knee surgery to produce a legendary shutout.
