Peter Obi Welcomes Release of Abducted Schoolchildren, Calls for Stronger Security

Labour Party presidential candidate in the 2023 general election, Peter Obi, has expressed joy over the safe release of the abducted schoolchildren.
He described their freedom as a development worthy of thanksgiving.

In a statement shared on his official X (formerly Twitter) account, Obi said he was greatly relieved by the successful rescue of the children and commended all those whose efforts made their release possible.

He particularly appreciated security personnel and others who worked behind- the- scene to secure the abductees’ freedom.

“I am greatly relieved and delighted to learn of the safe rescue of the schoolchildren who were kidnapped. I sincerely thank all those whose tireless efforts made their freedom possible, especially the security personnel and everyone who worked behind the scenes,” he stated.

While celebrating the children’s return, Obi stressed that no child should be subjected to the trauma of abduction, warning that the recurring cases of school kidnappings highlight the urgent need to strengthen Nigeria’s security architecture.

According to him, protecting the lives and property of citizens must remain the foremost responsibility of government.

The former Anambra State governor also emphasized that every Nigerian child deserved to receive an education in a safe and secure environment, free from the fear of violence or kidnapping.

He called for sustained efforts toward building a country where children can pursue their education without threats to their safety.

Obi concluded by rejoicing with the rescued children, their families, their schools, and Nigerians, describing their safe return as a heartening development for the nation.
