The Independent National Electoral Commission has uploaded 2,048 results out of 2,445 polling units on its Result Viewing Portal as of 6:41pm on Saturday, representing 83.7 percent of total results from the Ekiti State governorship election.
The figure represents a significant jump from the 35.5 percent uploaded barely 30 minutes earlier at 6:12pm.
Fourteen candidates are contesting the off-cycle governorship election, with incumbent Governor Biodun Oyebanji of the All Progressives Congress (APC) seeking a second term before his first-term mandate expires in October.

His principal challengers include Oluwole Oluyede of the Peoples Democratic Party, Oluwadare Bejide of the African Democratic Congress, Oyebanji Olajuyin of the Labour Party, and Blessing Abegunde of the New Nigeria Peoples Party.
Other contenders are Samuel Akande (AAC), Ayodeji Ojo (ADP), Opeyemi Felegan (Accord), Joseph Anifowose (APM), Bidemi Awogbemi (APP), Olaniyi Ayodele (PRP) and Victor Adetunji (ZLP).
Results are still being transmitted to the portal as collation continues across the state.
