Bayelsa State Governor, Senator Douye Diri, has reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to supporting federal security agencies in strengthening security and promoting peace across the state.

The Governor gave the assurance on Thursday during the inauguration of new projects at the Nigerian Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) State Command Headquarters in Yenagoa.

Represented by his Deputy, Dr. Peter Akpe, Governor Diri said his administration would continue to prioritise investment in the security sector.

He acknowledged the existing operational synergy among various security agencies in the state and commended the NSCDC State Commandant, officers and men for their dedication to duty and contributions to the protection of lives, critical assets, and public infrastructure.

The projects inaugurated include a newly constructed Quarter Guard, a Command Sick Bay, and a Photo Stand. The event also featured the groundbreaking ceremony for the Command Officers’ Mess.

Governor Diri noted that the projects demonstrate the Command’s commitment to institutional growth, personnel welfare, operational readiness, and improved service delivery.

In his welcome address, the NSCDC State Commandant, Mr. Matthew Palmer, said the projects align with the vision of the NSCDC Commandant General, Prof. Abubakar Audi, and the enabling support provided by the Minister of Interior, Dr. Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo.

He explained that the Quarter Guard represents discipline and readiness, the Sick Bay underscores the command’s commitment to the health and welfare of personnel, while the Officers’ Mess will serve as a hub for professional engagement and bonding.

Also present at the event were the Bayelsa State Commissioner of Police, CP Daniel Iyamah; representative of the Commander, Mobility Command, Nigerian Air Force, Air Commodore Muhammed Garba; and Assistant Commandant General Ben Dikuro.

They commended the State NSCDC Commandant for the laudable projects.
