Snarling traffic caused by ongoing rehabilitation and rainfall has frayed the nerves of thousands of commuters and motorists plying the Abuja-Kaduna-Kano highway for the Eid-el-Kabir celebrations.

In the wake of the gridlock that has persisted all week, David Umahi, minister of works, directed contractors to immediately reopen all accessible sections.

The minister issued the directive through a statement issued by Francis Nwaze, his media aide.

Umahi also confirmed that an earlier accident that worsened traffic had been cleared.

The Abuja-Kaduna highway is one of Nigeria’s busiest routes, linking the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) to northern states.
