Incumbent House Leader Ihonvbere, Loses Re-election Bid

The incumbent leader of the House of Representatives, Prof. Julius Ihonvbere, representing Owan Federal Constituency, has been defeated at the All Progressives Congress (APC) House of Representatives primary in Edo State.

He was defeated by Hon. Ijegbai Andrew, a former Edo State Commissioner for Mining.

Ijegbai was announced the winner after he polled 3,695 votes to defeat four other contestants, including Prof. Ihonvbere, who polled 1,005 votes.

The results were announced by the APC Returning Officer for the constituency, Kelvin Muhammed, at the party secretariat in Afuze.

Similarly, Hon. Eseosa Iyawe, representing Oredo Federal Constituency, lost his re-election bid.

He was defeated by Dr. Paddy Iyamu, immediate past Edo State Commissioner for Education, who scored 7,088 votes.
