Two customs officers have been killed by gunmen suspected to be members of the Lakurawa terrorist sect in Tugar community, Bagudu LGA of Kebbi state.
According to Punch, the attackers stormed a customs checkpoint in the community during the early hours of Wednesday.
A source said one of the victims, described as a senior officer, was burnt alive after the assailants set fire on the building where he was sleeping.

“The gunmen attacked two checkpoints that are very close to each other. They shot one officer, a junior officer, while they burnt the senior officer alive,” the source said.
“They came in a truck, disguised as if they were carrying animals, which caught the officers unaware. Two other officers with gunshot injuries are currently receiving treatment in the hospital.”
Bashir Usman, the public relations officer of the Kebbi state police command, condemned the attack and said security agencies had launched efforts to track down those responsible.
“The incident at Gendene is unfortunate, and security agencies have since responded appropriately,” he said.
“Efforts are ongoing to apprehend those responsible and prevent further security breaches.”
