President Bola Tinubu says cabinet reshuffle will be a “continuous” process to strengthen governance in the country.

In a statement on Tuesday, Yomi Odunuga, special adviser on media and publicity to George Akume, secretary to the government of the federation (SGF), said Tinubu approved a minor cabinet reshuffle in the membership of the federal executive council (FEC).

Quoting a memo signed by the SGF, Odunuga said the president relieved Wale Edun of his position as the minister of finance and coordinating minister of the economy, replacing him with Taiwo Oyedele, who was formerly the minister of state for finance.

According to him, Tinubu also dropped Ahmed Musa Dangiwa as minister of housing and urban development and named Muttaqha Rabe Darma as minister designate for the ministry.

Akume said the changes are aimed at strengthening cohesion and synergy in governance as well as achieving more impactful delivery on the economy to Nigerians through the renewed hope agenda.

The SGF said Tinubu assured all cabinet members that the process of reinvigoration will be continuous.

“Explaining the President’s decision, Akume said: These changes are aimed at strengthening cohesion, synergy in governance as well as achieving more impactful delivery on the economy to Nigerians, through the Renewed Hope Agenda,’” the statement reads.

“He said the President, in approving the cabinet reshuffle, has fully exercised his powers as conferred on him by Sections 147 and 148 of the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria (1999, as amended).

“The President thanked the outgoing ministers for their services to the nation while wishing them the best in all their future endeavours.

“The President, Akume noted, equally assured all cabinet members that “the process of reinvigoration shall be continuous.”
