A student of Veritas University has raised concerns over poor facilities in the private institution, claiming that students are struggling with no electricity and water despite paying high tuition fees.

In a viral video shared on X (formerly Twitter) by @AsakyGRN, he explained that the school charges ₦1.9 million for his course, while some other courses go as high as ₦3 million.

Despite these high fees, basic necessities like power and water have not been provided, leaving students frustrated.

In his words, he said:

“I’m in a school that charges ₦1.9 million for my course, while some other courses go as high as ₦3 million. Yet, we don’t have electricity, even though it’s a private university.

There’s been no water for days, and everyone is just keeping quiet. We’re over 7,000 students in this school. Calculate ₦1.9 million by 7,000, and they still can’t give us power.”

The student noted that more than 7,000 students are affected by the poor facilities, many of whom have been forced to find alternative ways to get electricity and water, while the school management remains silent.

He urged the university authorities to take responsibility and ensure that students receive the basic facilities they are paying for, stressing that the current situation is unacceptable.

The post has sparked outrage online, with many Nigerians calling out private universities to provide adequate facilities if they charge millions in tuition.

While some suggested boycotting fees until improvements are made, others sympathized with the students’ plight.
