The Lagos State Government has cautioned Nollywood actress, Sarah Martins, to desist from cooking and distributing food on public roads in the state, citing environmental and public order regulations.
The warning was issued by the Lagos State Commissioner for the Environment and Water Resources, Tokunbo Wahab, following reports of the actress’ recent charitable activities on the streets of Lagos.
In a statement addressed to Martins, Wahab acknowledged the philanthropic intent behind her actions but stressed that carrying out such activities on public roads, walkways, or medians is not permitted under existing regulations in the State.

According to the commissioner, cooking or trading on public infrastructure raises concerns relating to safety, sanitation, and traffic management.
Wahab also revealed that the actress had previously been cautioned about the same activity last year due to the charitable nature of the initiative and appeals made on her behalf.
He, however, advised her to stop carrying out street cooking or similar activities in public spaces across Lagos to avoid possible arrest and prosecution.
“If you wish to continue your charitable outreach, it should be done through proper channels and in approved locations so that your efforts can support vulnerable people without violating existing laws and constituting environmental nuisance,” the commissioner stated.
Wahab added that residents and visitors in Lagos are expected to comply with environmental and public order regulations, noting that the same standards apply in other well-regulated cities.
