The African Democratic Congress (ADC) has commenced free online membership registration across the country in compliance with the provisions of the Electoral Act 2026 mandating political parties to maintain a comprehensive digital register of members.

In a statement issued by the party’s National Publicity Secretary, Mallam Bolaji Abdullahi, the ADC said the initiative followed the successful launch of its nationwide physical membership registration and revalidation exercise held in Abuja last month.

According to the party, the new digital platform—accessible via www.adcregistration.ng—was introduced to align with Sections 77 and 82 of the Electoral Act 2026, which require political parties to maintain updated digital membership records and submit same to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) ahead of primaries, congresses, or conventions.

Section 77 of the Act specifically mandates parties to maintain a digital register, issue membership cards, and submit the updated register to INEC at least 21 days before any primary election or convention.

The ADC explained that only individuals whose details are fully captured and verified on the official digital register would be eligible to vote or contest in the party’s primaries.

The opposition party noted that since the commencement of its grassroots membership drive in February, it had recorded significant interest from Nigerians across various states and in the diaspora. It added that while the online registration is free and open to all eligible Nigerians, manual registration would continue simultaneously nationwide.

The party also directed previously registered members to revalidate their membership on the new portal to meet updated compliance requirements and INEC guidelines. Support groups and affiliated associations were equally encouraged to complete their onboarding process through the digital platform.

While reiterating its commitment to full compliance with the Electoral Act 2026, the ADC maintained its objection to certain provisions of the law, which it claimed confer undue advantage on the ruling party, as well as aspects of the current INEC timetable.

The party affirmed its resolve to build what it described as a modern, inclusive, and citizen-driven political movement ahead of the 2027 general elections.
