‘Find your way,’ List of roads closed for city Marathon on Saturday, February 14
The Lagos State Government has announced plans to shut some major roads for the 2026 Access Bank Lagos City Marathon scheduled for Saturday, February 14, 2026.
Platforms Africa reports that the Commissioner for Transportation, Lagos State, Oluwaseun Osiyemi, while announcing a comprehensive traffic diversion plan, disclosed that several major roads would be closed for up to 12 hours to ensure a smooth and secure marathon event.

According to him, the 11th edition of the marathon would feature both a 42-kilometre and a 10-kilometre race, which will run simultaneously along designated routes across the state.
The 42-kilometre race will commence from Ahmadu Bello Way (by MRS Gas Station) and proceed through the full stretch of the Coastal Road to the finishing point.
Meanwhile, the 10-kilometre race will begin from Durosimi Etti in Lekki Phase 1 and continue through Ozumba Mbadiwe, Bishop Oluwole, Akin Adesola, and terminate at Sanusi Fafunwa.
Osiyemi stated that all adjoining roads, junctions, and intersections along the race corridors will be closed from 12:00 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.

However, he noted that the affected roads would be reopened intermittently as the race progresses.
He added that officials of the Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA), alongside other security agencies, will be deployed to manage vehicular movement and prevent unauthorized access to the race routes.
The commissioner urged residents and motorists to plan their movements in advance, make use of alternative routes, and consider alternative modes of transportation during the exercise.
He appealed for public patience and cooperation, emphasizing that the temporary closures are necessary to ensure the successful hosting of the internationally recognized marathon.
