The Senator representing Ogun Central and Chairman of the Senate Committee on ICT and Cybersecurity, Shuaib Salisu, has hailed the inclusive leadership of Dapo Abiodun in strengthening the unity of the ruling All Progressives Congress in the state.

Salisu also lauded the day-to-day running of the party with what he described as a high sense of wisdom and responsibility by the state chairman, Yemi Sanusi, as well as the strong support of former governor, Olusegun Osoba.

According to a statement he issued on Friday, Salisu made the remarks during an expanded stakeholders’ strategic meeting of the party held at the June 12 Cultural Centre.

Passing a vote of confidence in Abiodun’s six years of leadership, Salisu stated, “It remains obvious that the synergy and mutual respect among Governor Dapo Abiodun, the state party chairman, Chief Yemi Sanusi, and our father and former governor of the state, Chief Olusegun Osoba, have helped to nurture the cohesion and unity of our great party, the APC, in our dear state.”

The senator equally praised the leadership of Bola Tinubu, maintaining that the President’s economic reforms are yielding results, with the nation returning to a path of sustainability and prosperity.

Salisu specifically acknowledged Osoba, Abiodun and Sanusi for fostering unity within the party.

“His leadership style is our unity. That is where our loyalty stands, where we do not betray the system. These are the three people who make our party strong, reliable and united”, Salisu said of Sanusi, who hails from the same Odeda Local Government.

Highlighting the state’s influence on national political discourse, Salisu noted that some of the popular phrases deployed during Tinubu’s 2023 campaign originated from Ogun State.

“If you recall, most of the sayings that defined President Bola Tinubu’s presidential campaign in 2023 were generated here in Ogun State. It was during one of the President’s visits that he said, ‘E gbe kinni yi wa, emi lokan,’ and we thank God that He actually stamped this request.

“Ogun State has a special place in the emergence of President Tinubu for his first term in office, and, with his unprecedented commitment and leadership in the last two and a half years, it is appropriate that we rise again and mobilise across the 236 wards in the state to give Mr President another term of four years.

“So, on behalf of my colleagues at the National Assembly and the good people of Ogun State, we hereby endorse our President, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, for another four years of consolidation and good governance from 2027 to 2031.”

The endorsement reportedly capped the strategic meeting, where Abiodun commended Tinubu’s economic reforms, describing the removal of fuel and forex subsidies as “the beginning of genuine reforms that have set the country on the path of economic recovery and stability.”

Backing Tinubu’s re-election, the governor cited falling inflation, a stabilising naira, $45bn in foreign reserves and major infrastructure projects, including the Lagos-Calabar coastal road, the Sokoto-Badagry highway and the approval for oil exploration in the state, among others, as early gains of the administration’s policy direction.

He also announced that a new APC secretariat for the state would be delivered within the next six months.
