Nigeria was thrown into darkness on Friday at about 12:40 p.m. following a system disturbance on the national electricity grid, resulting in a nationwide power outage.
Findings by TheNewsGuru (TNG) indicate that load allocation to all electricity distribution companies (DisCos) dropped to zero megawatts immediately after the incident, effectively cutting off power supply across the country.
Meanwhile, it was gathered that efforts to restore the grid are currently ongoing, though no official timeline has yet been announced for full restoration.
The incident marks the first national grid disturbance recorded in 2026, once again highlighting the fragility of Nigeria’s electricity infrastructure.
