Afrobeats star Wizkid has finally broken his silence on the ongoing online dispute involving Seun Kuti and members of his fan community, widely known as Wizkid FC.

His response came amid days of heated exchanges that have dominated conversations across social media.

The singer shared a video on his Instagram story showing a woman angrily calling out Seun Kuti in Yoruba. Wizkid did not add any written comment, but many interpreted the video as his indirect reply to the controversy that has continued to grow online.

In the clip, the woman openly criticised Seun Kuti, accusing him of constantly attacking Wizkid’s supporters and behaving irrationally. She questioned why his family had remained silent, asking if they would continue to watch him display what she described as “seven days and seven nights” of troubling conduct.

She went further by lashing out at Seun Kuti and his late father, Fela Anikulapo-Kuti. According to her, Wizkid’s global success is one of the reasons younger audiences still pay attention to Fela’s legacy today. She mocked what Seun inherited from his father, suggesting it amounted to nothing meaningful despite Fela’s greatness. She also pointed out that Wizkid has Fela’s image tattooed on his body.

Ending her rant, she said in English: “Seun Kuti’s family, is this how you will be looking at this bro until he enters the market because he has been using 7 days and 7 nights to act insane? You are cursing people’s children that much; you and your father will be unfortunate.
If not for Wizkid, do you think anyone would care about your father or do you think we’re still in 1990? Your father succeeded, yet you’re this miserable? Is it only pant and weeed you inherited from him? Wizkid literally has his tattoo on his body. I used to think you were wise. You’re finished!”

Shortly after posting that video, Wizkid stirred even more reactions by making a bold declaration in another Instagram story. In his words, he wrote: “I Big pass your papa. Wetin you won do? Fool at 40”

The post quickly went viral and intensified the debate already surrounding the clash.

The tension originally began after Seun Kuti accused Wizkid FC of disrespecting his father by repeatedly comparing Wizkid to the late Afrobeat legend. In a viral five-minute video, Seun expressed anger over claims that Wizkid is “the new Fela,” insisting that such statements diminish his father’s legacy, ideology, and cultural impact.

Seun argued that placing any modern artist on the same level as Fela is an attempt to rewrite history. He accused Wizkid’s fans of trying to “steal the man’s image” and warned them to “keep Fela’s name out of their mouth,” stressing that the comparisons were insulting and unacceptable.

However, Wizkid’s supporters have pushed back strongly, saying they never intended to place the singer above Fela or disrespect his legacy.

Following Wizkid’s reaction, social media users flooded comment sections with mixed responses. Some fans expressed excitement, while others reacted humorously to the unfolding drama.

One user wrote: “Cooking don start.”

Another commented: “Na Baba Nla carry me come her.”

Reacting to Wizkid’s post, another fan said: “Coming from our Michael Jackson’s story.”

Another reaction read: “Wizkid has posted you…Aja lasan lasan ni bobo Seun yen.”
