Celebrity fashion designer Toyin Lawani has accused a Lagos-based hospital, Euracare, of medical negligence following a spine surgery she underwent there.

According to Lawani, she spent nearly ₦100 million on the surgery but allegedly suffered severe complications, including loss of the use of her legs, lung infection, breathing difficulties, and damage to her vocal cords.

She claimed she was taken back into surgery multiple times due to bleeding in her lungs and stopped breathing at one point, leading doctors to puncture her lungs and insert a tracheotomy tube.

Lawani said her condition worsened after she was discharged, forcing her to return to the hospital. She later sought advice from a UK-based ENT doctor, who recommended another surgery. Eventually, she traveled to the UK, where doctors reportedly discovered serious lung infections that required further treatment and surgery.

She stated that she still cannot speak or walk properly and continues to receive medical care. Lawani has threatened to take legal action against Euracare, insisting that the hospital mismanaged her health and continued to demand payment despite the alleged complications.
