The Ogun State Police Command has confirmed the invitation of social welfare activist and commentator Adetoun Onajobi, popularly known as Just Adetoun, following her scathing online attacks on Governor Dapo Abiodun.
The command’s spokesperson, Oluseyi Babaseyi, disclosed on Wednesday that the invitation was based on a petition filed against the activist. He said she is expected to report to the police “as soon as practicable” to aid investigations.
Just Adetoun, an Ogun State-born activist from Ilisan Remo in Ikenne Local Government Area, had released a series of viral videos in which she openly criticised the governor over his handling of governance and public welfare.
Her outburst followed a tragic accident on the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway that claimed the lives of two friends and trainers of Nigerian-born British boxer, Anthony Joshua, when their SUV crashed into a stationary truck.
In the videos, the activist accused the Ogun State Government of abandoning the accident victims and alleged that the state had no functional ambulance to respond to emergencies. She further claimed that while critical health infrastructure was lacking, the governor prioritised social engagements and the purchase of SUVs for local government chairmen in December 2025.
She also faulted the governor for allegedly being out of the country at the time of the incident, contrasting this with claims that the President had reached out to Anthony Joshua and his family.
The police invitation has since sparked public debate, with many Nigerians closely watching how the matter unfolds amid renewed conversations around free speech, accountability, and governance.
