Daniel Okoh, president of the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN), says Christians in the country are celebrating their first Christmas in many years without attacks on churches.
Okoh spoke with journalists on Friday after leading a delegation of Christian leaders to visit President Bola Tinubu at his residence in Lagos.
The CAN president said the visit was to express gratitude to the president and Oluremi Tinubu, the first lady, for their efforts in supporting Nigerians and advancing national development.
“This visit by the leaders of the Christians Association of Nigeria to the home of President Bola Tinubu and his wife, the mother of the nation, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, is to appreciate them for what they are doing, providing for the poor and being committed to moving Nigeria forward,” Okoh said.
“And of course, the recent efforts they are making to ensure every Nigerian lives in peace in this country.
“It is something that we are so happy about. I can tell you; this Christmas happens to be the first in many years that we were not woken up to phone calls to say this church was attacked and it is a testimony that we must share.
“And we hope and pray that it will continue. We are also here to pledge our commitment to continue to work with the president for the progress and development of our country; Nigeria.”
