Retired Delta High Court Judge Found Murdered in Asaba

A retired judge of the Delta State High Court, Justice Ifeoma Okogwu, was found murdered in her Asaba residence on Monday morning.

Security operatives revealed that the late jurist was discovered lifeless in her sitting room at No. 8 Tom Halen Street, behind IBTC Bank, with her hands and legs bound and her mouth gagged with a wrapper.

The incident was reported to the police at about 8:00 a.m. by her brother, Emeka Okogwu, who arrived at her home for a visit and met the devastating scene.

Police patrol teams were immediately deployed to the location.

The on-duty security guard, Lucky Matthew, has been arrested for questioning, while a second guard, Godwin Vanen, is currently missing and being tracked by investigators.

Police authorities confirmed that Justice Okogwu’s body had been evacuated and deposited at Maduemeie Hospital Mortuary, Asaba.

They added that efforts are ongoing to identify the perpetrators and uncover the motive behind the killing.

The case has been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID), Asaba, for a thorough and discreet investigation
