A surprising scene unfolded in Nonthaburi, on the outskirts of Bangkok, as a 65-year-old woman, declared dead and prepared for burial, stunned many by knocking from inside her coffin.
Brother Believed She Was Dead
Chonthirat Sakulkoo, 65, had been unwell for two years and was cared for by her brother, Mongkol Sakulkoo.
When Mongkol found her unresponsive, he assumed she had passed away and proceeded with local procedures for cremation.
“I’ve cared for my sister for three years. Officials told us she had died. All the documents had been issued, so we placed her in a coffin and brought her to the temple for cremation,” he explained.
Hospital Refuses Without Doctor’s Certification
Before proceeding with the cremation, Mongkol took Chonthirat to Chulalongkorn University Hospital, hoping to fulfill her wish to donate her organs.
However, officials refused to accept her because no doctor had officially certified her death.
Coffin Shock at the Crematorium
At Wat Rat Prakongtham crematorium, staff told the family that the cremation could not proceed without a doctor’s declaration.
It was during this explanation that Chonthirat suddenly knocked from inside the coffin.
Mongkol said, “I was a bit surprised, so I asked them to open the coffin, and everyone was startled. I saw her opening her eyes slightly and knocking on the side of the coffin. She must have been knocking for quite some time.”
Medical Examination Reveals Cause
Chonthirat was rushed to Bang Yai Hospital, where doctors determined she had suffered from acute hypoglycaemia, a dangerously low level of blood sugar that can mimic death-like unresponsiveness.
She was found to be responsive and is now under proper medical care.
Netizens Reacts
