Super Eagles Must Win Title at AFCON 2025 — Onyeka

Frank Onyeka has said the Super Eagles must now shift attention to the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations after their failure to secure  a spot at the 2026 FIFA World Cup, Prompt News reports.

The Super Eagles lost 4-3 on penalities in the final of the African playoffs in Rabat on Sunday.

The three-time African champions will miss out on a place at the mundial for the second consecutive edition.

Onyeka said they will try and make amend at the AFCON.

“We, the players, are hurting, just as much as Nigerians are hurting. Nigerians have every right to be very upset with us. It is very tough not to go to the next World Cup,” said the Brentford star, who opened scoring for Super Eagles in World Cup Playoffs final vs DR Congo.

“Some of us may not be around in five years, in 2030. It’s painful.

“But we have an AFCON to play in 34 days and we need to get ready for that and do better than we did last time.”
