Governor Caleb Mutfwang of Plateau State has formally dissociated himself from the expulsion of the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Barr. Nyesom Wike; former Ekiti State Governor, Ayodele Fayose; former National Secretary, Senator Samuel Anyanwu; and other senior stakeholders of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) announced at the Ibadan convention of the Makinde-led faction.

In a statement issued on Saturday, Governor Mutfwang clarified that the matter was neither discussed nor approved at any meeting of the PDP Governors’ Forum or the party’s National Executive Committee (NEC) before it was dramatically moved on the convention floor.

He stressed that the motion “does not reflect my position,” insisting that such a far-reaching decision cannot stand without proper consultation, legal backing, and the involvement of constitutionally recognised organs of the party.

Governor Mutfwang faulted the timing and procedure adopted by the Makinde camp, describing it as irregular and potentially damaging to ongoing efforts to stabilise the PDP.

“At a time when the party is grappling with significant internal challenges, what is required is unity, dialogue, and collective responsibility—not actions that deepen division,” the governor stated.

He reaffirmed his commitment to rebuilding and repositioning the PDP through lawful, inclusive, and strategic engagement rather than hasty measures capable of worsening the crisis.
