APC Not Sponsoring Me to Attack Olawepo-Hashim – Estranged Wife

Funmi, an ex-wife to former presidential candidate, Gbenga Olawepo-Hashim, has described as reckless and baseless the allegation that the All Progressives Congress, APC, was sponsoring her to attack her ex-husband.

Funmi accused Olawepo-Hashim of resorting to diversionary tactics in addressing allegations of child neglect.

She had last week alleged that Olawepo-Hashim was neglecting their twin children and failing to pay their school fees and upkeep in the United Kingdom.

The estranged wife of the politician quoted a judgment by Justice Gladys Olotu of the Federal High Court, Abuja, as ordering Olawepo-Hashim and the company to pay N300m in damages for breach of corporate governance.

According to her, Olawepo-Hashim, following their separation in 2017, has not communicated with their twin children for nine years, and failed to heed reminders over outstanding tuition,

Responding, Olawepo-Hashim claimed that elements within the ruling APC were behind the allegations against him through his estranged wife.

He stated that the latest allegations were part of a smear campaign to discredit him ahead of the 2027 general elections.

In another statement on Monday, Funmi, blasted Olawepo-Hashim’s political enemies’ argument as “completely false, malicious, and a desperate attempt to distract from his long-standing pattern of neglect; both parental and financial.

She said Olawepo-Hashim’s allegation of APC using her to frustrate his political ambition is reckless and baseless.

She also dismissed as baseless the claim that she tried to frame him up with the UK Government and the National Intelligence Agency.

“Was it any political party or individual that directed him to abandon his duties as a father for over nine years?

“Was it the APC that stopped him from paying his children’s school fees or providing for their upkeep?

“These were his personal choices, and he alone must take full responsibility for them,” she said.
