Minister Uche Nnaji, Nigeria’s Minister of Science and Technology, has admitted that the University of Nigeria, Nsukka (UNN) never issued him a degree certificate. This revelation validates a two-year investigation by PREMIUM TIMES, which alleged that Nnaji forged the credentials he submitted to President Bola Tinubu and the Nigerian Senate during his ministerial screening in 2023.

Nnaji made this admission in court documents filed before the Federal High Court in Abuja, where he’s suing the Minister of Education, the National Universities Commission (NUC), and UNN officials. He claimed that UNN refused to issue him a certificate, but the university has since confirmed that he never completed his studies and was never awarded a degree .
The controversy surrounding Nnaji’s certificates began in July 2023, when President Tinubu nominated him as a minister. Critics alleged that he forged his degree and National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) certificates, which he submitted to the Senate for his ministerial confirmation.
