“I warmly congratulate my dear brother, Oba Rashidi Adewolu Ladoja, Arusa I, on his installation as the 44th Olubadan of Ibadanland. His ascension to this revered throne is a celebration for the people of Ibadan and a source of pride for the entire Yoruba nation and Nigeria as a whole.” – Peter Obi.

While I may not always agree with the political opportunism and maneuvers of Mr. Peter Obi, who hails from a different cultural background, it is important to recognize that he should not be harshly criticized for what many see as a misstep in understanding Yoruba cultural subtleties. Admittedly, Mr. Obi often has a flair for grandstanding and dramatics, but we should acknowledge and commend his congratulatory message to the new Olubadan of Ibadan, the revered Ọba Rasheed Adewolu Ladoja.

Given Mr. Obi’s history of seizing political opportunities, especially during times of national crisis, it is only natural for discerning minds to question the authenticity of his well-wishes. There is an air of political intrigue surrounding the sincerity of his words.
