The All Progressives Congress (APC) Screening Committee has cleared Ekiti State Governor, Biodun Abayomi Oyebanji, and Mrs. Atinuke Oluremi Omolayo to participate in the party’s forthcoming governorship primary election, while disqualifying Mrs. Abimbola Olajumoke Olawumi.

In its report, the committee affirmed that Governor Oyebanji met all constitutional and party requirements, earning him full clearance. Mrs. Omolayo was also declared eligible, having satisfied the stipulated conditions.

However, Mrs. Olawumi was disqualified for failing to provide adequate proof of financial membership of the party, as required under Article 9(1) of the APC Constitution, which makes only registered and financially up-to-date members eligible to vote and be voted for.

The committee further referenced Section 177(c) of the 1999 Constitution (as amended), which mandates valid party membership as a prerequisite for governorship aspirants.

Meanwhile, Engr. Kayode Ojo was granted provisional clearance, with his final status deferred to the National Working Committee (NWC). The decision followed petitions alleging that he did not secure the mandatory five valid nominators per local government. The referral, the committee explained, was to avert potential litigations.

The report stressed that strict compliance would boost the APC’s chance in the 2026 Ekiti governorship election.
