Labour Party governorship candidate in Anambra State, George Moghalu, has said Governor Chukwuma Soludo is aware he will not be re-elected in the forthcoming November 8 poll.

Moghalu, who recalled his first governorship contest in 2003 under the defunct All Nigeria Peoples Party, ANPP, said Soludo supported him at the time and even contributed financially to his campaign.

According to him, the gesture was an indication that Soludo believed in his capacity to govern and to win elections, noting that he polled over 179,000 votes in that election, second only to Peter Obi’s 230,000 votes.

He added that Soludo’s performance in office and the growing acceptability of the Labour Party in the state would work against the governor’s re-election bid.

Moghalu said: “In 2003 when I first ran for Governor under the platform of ANPP, the Governor Soludo did support me and even donated generously to my campaign – this shows he believes not just in my ability to govern but also in my capacity to win the election. I went on to score 179,000+ votes second only to HE Peter Obi @PeterObi who scored 230,000+ votes in the election

“Governor Soludo more than everyone else on the ballot knows my capacity not just as an administrator but as a politician

“So deep down, he knows that he will not return as a Governor after the November 8 election largely because of the acceptability of our party in the state and his poor performance but most importantly because of my personal capacity to match and surpass him on the field.”
