“The Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) wishes to inform the public of a forced outage on the Aba/Itu 132kV Transmission Line that occurred on Saturday, September 13, 2025, at approximately 01:03 am due to a line trip,” the statement reads.
“This incident interrupted bulk power supply to the Port Harcourt Electricity Distribution Company (PHED) and also power supply to Akwa Ibom State.
“Our maintenance crew has promptly responded to the situation and is working diligently to rectify the fault and restore power supply to the affected areas.”
Furthermore, the commission apologised for any inconvenience “this has caused and assure that power will be restored as soon as the repairs are completed”.
On September 8, the commission said a thunderstorm led to the snapping of the 132kV Otukpo–Nsukka–New Haven transmission line, which sparked fire.

The commission said the incident led to the burning of a house built under the transmission line and ignited a car parked beneath the transmission line right-of-way, and also killed two cows along the path.
