NEWCASTLE have been hit with a major double injury blow ahead of their clash against Wolves.

The Toon had been looking to hand a debut to deadline day arrival Yoane Wissa.

However, his Magpies debut has been postponed until further notice following a scan on his knee after an injury over the international break.

As reported by the Daily Mail’s Craig Hope, Wissa – a £55million signing from Brentford – returned from international duty with DR Congo on Thursday.

The 29-year-old then underwent a knee scan with the hope he would be okay to feature in training today and against Wolves on Saturday.

But Eddie Howe has confirmed Wissa was “still feeling the effects” and would not play.

Wissa will now see a specialist to ascertain the severity of the knock.

Another untimely blow to Howe, just days before their Champions League campaign gets underway against Barcelona, is the news that Jacob Ramsey is also sidelined for at least a month.

Howe said of the £43m summer addition: “Jacob is our only other injury concern and he’ll miss the game.

“He’s suffered from that tackle against Leeds, his ankle swelled up at half-time and he had to come off.

“Unfortunately, I think he’ll be missing until the next international break, so that’s a big blow.”

The injury to Wissa paves the way for Newcastle’s club record signing, Nick Woltemade, to make his full debut at St James’ Park.

Germany international Woltemade signed from Stuttgart for £69m in the final days of the window.

Howe confirmed he was available to feature against Wolves, adding: “He’s trained well and we’re really pleased with how he’s looked in the first couple of days.

“Big change for him, big opportunity for him. He’s got a great nature, a great character.

“He’s very calm and he’s gone straight into our training and not looked out of place.

“He’s shown his qualities. We’re really pleased with how he’s settled in.”

There was also a boost over the return of Joelinton, with Howe confirming he had trained this week and was fit to play against Wolves.
