Liverpool complete British record £125m signing of Alexander Isak
Liverpool have completed the signing of Alexander Isak from Newcastle United in a deal worth a British record £125m, with the Swedish striker declaring his ambition to “create history and win trophies” at Anfield.
The fee could rise to £130m with add-ons, according to Newcastle sources, eclipsing previous Premier League transfer records.
The 25-year-old underwent a medical on Monday before putting pen to paper on a six-year contract, and will wear the iconic number nine shirt for the Reds.

“This is the next step for me in my career,” Isak told Liverpool’s website. “I want to create history. I want to win trophies. That’s ultimately the biggest motivation for me. This is the perfect place for me to grow even further, take my game to the next level, and help the team.”
Liverpool had an earlier £110m bid rejected in August, but finally secured their top summer target after a tense transfer saga that dragged on until deadline day.

The move follows Newcastle’s reinforcement of their attack with the signings of Nick Woltemade from Stuttgart and Yoane Wissa from Brentford in a £50m deal earlier in the week.
Isak’s arrival adds firepower to Jürgen Klopp’s side as they aim to compete for the Premier League and Champions League titles this season.
