Six people died after a helicopter crashed into the Hudson River in New York City on Thursday afternoon, sending rescue teams racing to the site of the crash.

Mayor Eric Adams confirmed that all six of those on board the helicopter died in the crash. Divers retrieved four bodies from the scene, while two of the victims were pulled from the water alive and rushed to nearby hospitals, but died from their injuries.
Fire officials identified the victims as a Spanish family of two adults and three children, alongside the helicopter’s pilot. AP has now named the victims as Siemens executive Agustin Escobar, his wife Mercè Camprubí Montal, a global manager at an energy technology company, and their three children.

Photos posted on the helicopter company’s website showed the couple and their children smiling as they boarded just before the flight took off.
A witness at the scene told NBC News the helicopter’s blade “flew off” moments before it plunged into the river. The cause of the tragedy remains unknown.
President Donald Trump has offered his condolences and the National Transportation Safety Board has launched an investigation.
