……Succeeds Deji of Akure

The Olowo of Owo Kingdom and Paramount Ruler of Owo Land, Alayeluwa, Oba (Dr) Ajibade Gbadegesin Ogunoye III, who doubles as the Chancellor of the Federal University of Technology, Babura, Jigawa State, Nigeria, has been appointed the Chairman, Ondo State Council of Obas.

The Governor of Ondo State, His Excellency, Dr. Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa, approved the appointment of the revered Monarch in an announcement today, Thursday, 3rd April, 2025 during a special meeting of the Council at the Obas’ Secretariat along Igbatoro Road, Akure, as the leadership of the Council under the Deji of Akure, Oba (Dr) Aladetoyinbo Ogunlade Aladelusi Odundun II, completed tenure.

While acknowledging the contributions of the outgoing leadership of the Council, the Governor commended the Deji of Akure for his support for his Administration.

The Governor reassured the traditional rulers of continued support, promising further initiatives aimed at enhancing their status.
While officially dissolving the 11th Council, Governor Aiyedatiwa approved the formation of the 12th Council under a new leadership.

The Governor said “On this note, I hereby dissolve the 11th Council of Obas in Ondo State. I also announce my approval of the 12th Council under the Chairmanship of His Imperial Majesty, Kabiyesi, the Olowo of Owo, Oba (Dr) Ajibade Gbadegesin Ogunoye lII”,

In his remarks, the Deji of Akure thanked the Governor for his support to the traditional institution in the State, saying such support has been unprecedented.

In his acceptance speech, the Olowo of Owo thanked the Governor for the appointment, promising to build on the productive relationship between the Council and the Governor .

Oba Ajibade commended the leadership style of Governor Aiyedatiwa, his model of governance and the many achievements he has recorded since becoming governor. He concluded by congratulating Kabiyesi the Deji of Akure for his remarkable achievements.

Brief Profile of Ademola Akinbola

Ademola AKINBOLA is an author, publisher, trainer, digital marketing strategist, and a brand development specialist with nearly three decades of experience in the areas of branding, communication, corporate reputation management, business development, organizational change management, and digital marketing.

He is the Founder and Head Steward at BrandStewards Limited, a brand and reputation management consultancy. He is also the Publisher of The Podium International Magazine, Ile-Oluji Times, and Who’s Who in Ile-Oluji.

He had a successful media practice at The Guardian, Punch and This Day.

He started his brand management career at Owena Bank as Media Relations Manager before joining Prudent Bank (now Polaris Bank) as the pioneer Head of Corporate Affairs.

The British Council appointed him as Head of Communication and Marketing to co-ordinate branding and reputation management activities at its Lagos, Abuja, Kano and Port Harcourt offices.

In 2007, he was recruited as the Head of Corporate Planning and Strategy for the Nigerian Aviation Handling company. He led on the branding, strategic planning and stakeholder management support function.
