United States President Donald Trump has signed a memorandum directing his advisers to calculate reciprocal tariffs on foreign countries.
“I have decided, for purposes of fairness, that I will charge a reciprocal tariff,” Trump said in the Oval Office as he signed the memorandum on Thursday.

According to the Republican, “It’s fair to all. No other country can complain.”

Trump has said he would target countries that he sees as having unfair trade relations with the United States.

However, Trump’s announcement did not provide specifics about the tariffs or when they would go into effect.

Trump had earlier said that he planned to unveil reciprocal tariffs on Thursday.

His latest round of market-rattling tariffs has heightened fears of a widening global trade war and raised concerns about accelerating inflation in the United States.
