The Federal Executive Council (FEC) approved N20 billion for the Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) to procure Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) vehicles, provide life insurance coverage and construct forward bases in remote areas for its officers.

Wale Edun, minister of finance and coordinating minister of the economy, disclosed this to newsmen after a FEC meeting which was presided over by President Bola Tinubu at the State House in Abuja.
He disclosed that the package includes a N1 billion life insurance policy for NCS officers to improve their living conditions and provide financial security for their families.

Before the end of 2024, the Nigeria Customs Service Board (NCSB) promoted 4,291 senior officers appointing a Deputy Comptroller General (DCG) and eight Assistant Comptroller Generals (ACGs) while reaffirming its commitment to ensuring a motivated workforce with assured career progression.
Edun revealed that the officers will covered under group life insurance policy, which is implemented by “underwriters and brokers,” he said.
The insurance covers eligible officers under one master policy, providing a death benefit to the beneficiary if the injured person passes away, which may include situations like accidental death, disability or critical illness.
