In a social media reveal, Australian football star Sam Kerr and U.S. international midfielder Kristie Mewis announced they are expecting their first child together.

The couple shared the exciting news with fans in an Instagram post that featured a collage of black-and-white photos.

The images showed the two proudly holding up an ultrasound scan and pointing to Mewis’ baby bump, with the caption reading: “Mewis-Kerr baby coming 2025!”

Sam Kerr, a prolific goalscorer for Chelsea and Australia, and Mewis, a midfielder for West Ham and the U.S. women’s national team, have been together since 2021. The pair got engaged last year.

The announcement comes after a challenging year for both athletes.

Kerr, who missed the entire 2024 calendar year due to a serious ACL injury sustained in January, has been sidelined since the preseason.

She still remains Chelsea’s all-time top scorer and recently signed a contract extension with the club through 2026.

Meanwhile, Mewis, 33, made the move from NY/NJ Gotham FC to West Ham in January 2024 but has struggled with a series of minor injuries and illnesses.

She has made just three appearances for the club this season, with fans speculating about her future due to her absence from recent matches.

The pregnancy revelation now explains her time away from the pitch, putting retirement rumors to rest.
