Eighteen passengers traveling from Abuja rnroute Port Harcourt-bound bus were abducted while the driver of the vehicle was left free.

In a viral video , It was gathered that the incident occurred on Saturday night 12 October 2024 along a major highway in Port Harcourt.

In the video, it was seen that the driver was protected from sharing further details by representatives of the transport company, GIG Logistics (GIG), who discouraged him from speaking.

The abduction has sparked fresh concerns about the growing insecurity along major highways,

Recall that on July 2024, driver and 18 passengers of a Port Harcourt-bound Akwa Ibom State Transport Corporation bus were on Wednesday, last week, abducted by yet-to-be-identified gunmen.

It was gathered that the incident occurred along the Azumini boundary between Akwa Ibom and Abia states.

Ademola AKINBOLA is an author, publisher, trainer, digital marketing strategist, and a brand development specialist with nearly three decades of experience in the areas of branding, communication, corporate reputation management, business development, organizational change management, and digital marketing.

He is the Founder and Head Steward at BrandStewards Limited, a brand and reputation management consultancy. He is also the Publisher of The Podium International Magazine, Ile-Oluji Times, and Who’s Who in Ile-Oluji.

He started his brand management career at Owena Bank as Media Relations Manager before joining Prudent Bank (now Polaris Bank) as the pioneer Head of Corporate Affairs.

The British Council appointed him as Head of Communication and Marketing to co-ordinate branding and reputation management activities at its Lagos, Abuja, Kano and Port Harcourt offices.
