…..In the Next  Six Years, Ogun State Will Be The Best Investor Destination In Nigeria

The Ogun State Special Adviser on Media Kayode Akinmade has  highlighted  landmark achievements of the state government under the “Building Our Future Together” agenda launched in May 2019.

The agenda, he said was anchored on the ISEYA pillars; Infrastructure, Social Well-being, Education, Youth Empowerment and Job Creation, and Agriculture, which has guided Ogun’s transformation over the last six years.

On infrastructure, he disclosed that more than 1,200 roads have been completed across all 20 local governments. He recalled the reconstruction of the Ijebu-Ode–Epe road, a federal highway, by the state government to international standards. “The essence of that was to enable the people to have easy access to and fro, even from Lagos,” he said, noting that between 2 and 2.5 million commuters pass through Ogun every day.

On agriculture, Akinmade explained that Ogun is one of Nigeria’s largest producers of cassava, cocoa and rice, and the administration is determined to push mechanisation to boost mass production.

Recall on Monday, 23rd, 2025, President Bola Tinubu launched the distribution of 2,000 tractors and thousands of farming implements under the Renewed Hope Agricultural Mechanisation Programme, an initiative aimed at boosting food security and national prosperity.

Akinmade disclosed that Ogun is yet to receive its share. “You should be rest assured, as soon as it is received, we will make it public because it is for the public good,” he said.

He also recalled that Governor Abiodun joined his Lagos counterpart to launch a ₦500 billion agricultural intervention, while the state government has separately purchased and distributed farming materials to stakeholders.

“Look, this is for everyone’s benefit, and Ogun is a largest producer in cassava, cocoa, and rice production. We’ll definitely let everyone know when we get our tractors.” The governor’s recent team-up with Lagos State on a massive N500 billion agricultural project shows they’re serious. The spokesperson added, “We’re bringing modern farming to Ogun so we can produce enough food for everyone.”

To stabilise food prices, he added, farmers’ markets have been created in Abeokuta where goods are sold directly to consumers. A May 2025 report by the National Bureau of Statistics, he noted, showed Ogun recorded the lowest increase in food prices nationwide.

Akinmade further pointed to the state’s growing investment profile, saying investors are moving into Sagamu and Papalanto, with plans underway to build a Disneyland and entertainment hall to create jobs for young graduates. “In the next six years, Ogun State will be the best investor destination in Nigeria,” he declared, insisting that Ogun remains “arguably the most secure state in Nigeria” due to its peace and stability.

Akinmade’s word reflects Governor, Dapo Abiodun, disclosure just four days ago where he revealed that the newly renovated Olumo Rock generates about N20m weekly.

Abiodun stated this on Friday, while receiving the management of MAG Group led by its strategic advisor, Mr Fayad Fayad, and its head of public relations and communication, Mr Hassan Fayad at his office in Oke-mosan, Abeokuta.

Akinmade concluded by noting that Ogun’s economy has quadrupled under Abiodun, rising from ₦3.5 trillion in 2019 to ₦16 trillion in 2025. “Governor Dapo Abiodun has been deliberate about creating opportunities for investors,” Akinmade said. “What he has succeeded in doing in Ogun State is to allow peace and stability to reign
