Unknown gunmen have attacked the convoy of the Emir of Kaura Namoda, Zamfara State, HRH Sanusi Muhammad Asha.
According to Channels TV, the attack happened on Thursday night while the Emir was on his way back from Abuja.
The Zamfara State Commissioner of Police, Usman Nagogo who confirmed the incident said three of his police escorts were killed as well as five other people.
Nagogo however, declined to comment further on the attack.
