A popular song by Fela Anikulapo Kuti
“You be thief !” You be rogue “
How do we explain that a candidate running for Governor of a State is carrying N700 Million alleged corruption baggage? The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) had in suit No. FHC/BE21C/ 2016, filed an eight-count charge against Pastor Ize-Iyamu and other defendants, over alleged illegal receipt of public funds to the tune of N700 million for the purpose of the 2015 general elections.
Ize-Iyamu was further accused of conspiring to commit the offence in March 2015, and of allegedly taking the money without executing any contract awarded.
These funds were meant for national security and defense, money meant for police men, for soldiers, for the upkeep of their families in case of injury or death, the so-called Pastor confessed to collecting the funds for sharing purposes and personally directing how it was shared. Can we fear God please?
For argument sake , let us put the case to one side briefly , can this so called Pastor ( I say so called because a Pastor is not in a name but in action) account for the funds he collected for the dualization of Okada road or the funds collected for the construction of Aniegbette Bridge in Edo North or the N500 Million released for Lucky road and Textile road
…. Mr. Pastor ‘money we did not see, road we did not see”
Even if he wants a second chance to redeem the public looting of Edo treasury and the broad daylight robbery of the citizens of Edo both dead, living and unborn, first he must refund the N4 Billion, that his campaign boy Oshiomole- said he looted from the State treasury. He should pray very hard and resurrect the people that died or had accidents on the roads he did not repair, he should bring back the pensioners that died on queues because he held their payment.
By the way, nobody should be surprised that a whole Oshiomole the disgraced Party chairman turned campaign messenger is supporting him. There is a very good reason for this development : Africans believe in the power of names and the name Oshiomole literally interpreted in the Yoruba language means Rubbish does not know stealing “ therefore Oshiomole is only answering his name because he has no concept of right from wrong .
Instead of him to think about his life, he returned to Edo to be the campaign boy boy for a person he accused of corruption.
In the words of that great activist Fela Anikulapo Kuti, this so-called pastor and his boy boy are what you call beast of no nation, bad society.
