Tabitha Home is a formal care home for Orphans and Vulnerable Children (OVC) which has been in existence since 2014. The Home focuses on rehabilitating and transforming the lives of these children through the 6+ Support.
Presently, the care home resides at the heart of Ibadan city, a rented two-storey building with a total of 8 bedrooms excluding stores, kitchen, 2 sitting rooms and 2 dining rooms.
Also, a well-fenced compound for fun and educative outdoor activities. The facility accommodates 32 children between the ages of 5-18 years and to support in giving the children access to an atmosphere of love, care and nurture are 6 caregivers.
However, there’s an on-going building project of the permanent site of Tabitha Home. The building is projected to accommodate 100 children and 15 caregivers/support workers, hence, achieving an encompassing environment for the target group of children.
Tabitha home children has won many academic and extracurricular awards from Ace 5 Initiative Spelling Bee and Beauty Contest Award, ASOHON’S Children’s Day Oratory and Quiz Competition 2019 to Lighthouse Spelling Bee. In recent times, the Home also celebrated the graduation of two of its children from high school.
Events lined up for the last quarter of 2019 are:
- Teenage Pregnancy Project, a project that would benefit 50 pregnant teens or teen moms, empowering them with advocacy and vocational skills.
- Eye Test Project for vulnerable children in the community.
- Children Fun Fest for Christmas part and fundraising for Tabitha Building Project.
The organisation sees the achievements of its goals as a communal effort; hence, having the government and private sector support the development of women and children is a great support to the initiative.
Other needed supports for the organisation are;
- The on-going Building Project
- Tabitha Home Educational and Maintenance Support
- Women Development Programmes
- Tabitha Home Bus
- The proposed Tabitha Academy Project for skills acquisition.
