Niger State Sector Commander of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), Mr Joel Dagwa, has confirmed the death of six persons in an auto crash that happened along Bida- Kutigi road axis of the state en route Mokwa on Thursday.

Mr Dagwa confirmed the incident to Tribune Online on Friday in Minna the State capital, in an interview via telephone, adding that four other victims sustained varying degrees of injuries.

He said that the lone accident, which occurred at about 15.20hrs at Jifan village along Bida-Mokwa Highways in Bida local government area of the state involved an 18-seater commuter bus Marked JJJ 132 XV.

According to him, “12 persons were involved in the road traffic accident, highlighting, that six were killed, four others sustained injuries and were taken to General Hospital Kutigi for Medical attention.”

The FRSC boss stated further that the bus took off from Bida, heading towards Kutigi when the accident happened.

The Sector Commander, however, attributed the cause of the accident to a speed violation, which led to the loss of control of the vehicle by the driver.

Mr Joel Dagwa thereby advised motorists to exercise caution and adhere strictly to speed limits to avoid crashes.

The Sector Commander said that the corps would continue to monitor road users with the view to guard against dangerous driving, especially during the Yuletide period.
