It is no longer news that two Nigerian top musicians, Damini Ebunoluwa Ogulu, professionally known as Burna Boy, and David Adedeji Adeleke better known by his stage name Davido, on Sunday, December 27 engaged each other in a physical scuffle in far away Ghana.
What perhaps is new about the gist is the real reason the two stars fought dirty in the Ghanaian night club, Hype.
Report of the fight has it that Burna Boy moved to where Davido was sitting and Omo Baba Olowo then attacked the African Giant cum Grammy’s nominee.
Davido was reportedly whisked away by the club’s bouncers and the clubbing ended abruptly.
The Ghana scuffle was a result of the beefing which has been going on between the twosome.
Davido has reportedly been in personality clash with Wizkid for a long time now. Wizkid happens to be a good friend of Burna Boy, so Davido extended his beef with Wizkid to Burna Boy, believing that the two are now teeming up against him.
Burna Boy and Davido have currently been ‘yabbing’ each other in their songs.
In one of Davido’s songs, there is a line that he says “Tell Odogwu say we like to party,” subtly referring to Burna Boy whom his fans fondly refer to as Odogwu.
On his own part, Burna Boy often refers to Davido’s songs as “Floppy discs”, that is, discs that have flopped.
Probably they decided to throw their hats into the ring and iron out their differences with fisticuffs outside Nigerian shores.
The next day after the fight (Monday), Davido said he was considering quitting music. He tweeted: “I go leave this music for una.”
Some fans say what their idol tweeted was nothing but “shakara”. But whether or not he meant it will be known in days, months or years to come.
