General Overseer of The Redeemed Christian Church of God(RCCG), Pastor Enoch Adejare Adeboye has admonished Christians to deal with anger in their lives in order to avert their destinies from being wrecked.
To the cleric who is fondly called Daddy G.O, it is very difficult, humanly speaking, not to ever get angry. Yet, he opined that anger is so dangerous because it can destroy a lifetime of achievements within seconds.
In Thursday’s edition of the popular daily meditation book called Open Heavens, Pastor Adeboye recounted how he once found it difficult to flow during a drama in which he was to act the role of an angry man.
According to him, he has learnt enough lessons from the life of Moses whose highly wonderful and glorious ministry was terminated abruptly and fell short of reaching the Promised Life
That is why the man of God has concluded that he can never get angry again in this life, stressing that he would never entertain anger to have a place in his life so that his destiny will not be cut off.
Hear him: “Ask Moses: a man who God spoke to face to face, the one who led the children of Israel out of bondage in Egypt, and also caused the Egyptian Army to be destroyed in the Red Sea.
“Many great Miracles had happened through him and he was on the way to leading the children of Israel to the Promise Land, but anger ended his mission within seconds.
“Anger is a Destiny-killer and that is why I am determined never to get angry again in my life.
“I was once asked to act the role of an angry man in a Play. As hard as I tried, I just couldn’t do it because I had dealt with anger so much in my life. Once in a while, things happen around me that can get me anger but I ensure that I do not stop doing things that help me avoid anger.”
Pastor Adeboye’s admonition to children of God is to always be in control of their emotions and to take certain steps in order to overcome anger.
He continued further: “Anger has a way of making people say or do things they wouldn’t normally. If you let anger dictate how you behave, it will also dictate how far you go in life.
“You need to be in control so anger does not take you in that direction. When people say ‘That is how I behave when I get angry’, it shows they don’t Place great value on their Destiny.”
Pastor Adeboye drew lessons from Proverbs 25:28 which says:”He that hath no rule over his own spirit is like a city that is broken down, and without walls”.
For example, the cleric said: “When someone gets me angry, I sing choruses. As I sing, I am inviting the Holy Spirit to take control and since He is a Gentle Spirit, once He comes in, the anger will go. “At others times, you may just quietly leave a place to avoid getting angry. Whatever you do, ensure anger does not control you”
The RCCG leader also quoted Ecclesiastes 7: 9 to back up his admonition to Christians: “Be not hasty in thy Spirit to be angry: for anger rests in the bosom of fools”, emphasizing that “you have control over anger, so, use it to preserve your destiny. You must let go of anger. Don’t be a fool”.
