Police spokesman Olugbenga Fadeyi in a statement said the hoodlums loaded in a bus and taxi shot in the air several times before putting fire to the house located at the Soka area of Ibadan.

“The mini sitting room got burnt in the process while the value of other properties is yet to be estimated,” Fadeyi said.

“Immediately the DPO Sanyo got a wind of the incident, he contacted fire service while he also went to the scene for on the spot assessment.

“The fire was eventually put out. An investigation has commenced into the incident while the Police are on the trail of the hoodlums.”

He said the police had begun an investigation into the incident.

Sunday Igboho’s house was burnt around 3:00 am on Tuesday after the power supply to the area was cut off.

The activist had led a group of youths to issue a seven-day ultimatum to herders in Igangan, Ibarapa, Oyo State, to vacate the town.

He accused the herders of being culpable in the strings of kidnappings and killings carried out around the town.

Igboho led a group of people who chased the herders out of Igangan at the expiration of the ultimatum. The activist and his follower ejected the Fulani leader of Igangan, Salihu Abdukadir from his residence.

He accused the Fulani leader of harboring criminal herders who were kidnapping and killing residents of the community.

Abdukadir denied the allegations, stating that some members of his community have also been victims of the attacks and kidnappings trailing the community.

Some houses and cars were burnt in the process of evicting Abdukadir from the community.

The Nigerian government has appealed to both parties to be calm and embrace peaceful dialogue over lawlessness that may lead to anarchy.
