……APPRECIATES INDIGENES IN DIASPORA FOR THEIR CONCERN AND SUPPORT

The Olowo of Owo and Paramount Ruler of Owo Land, who doubles as Chairman, Ondo State Council of Obas, His Imperial Majesty, Alayeluwa, Oba (Dr) Ajibade Gbadegesin Ogunoye III, has expressed, once again, his concerns over the incessant wave of kidnapping and banditry in Owo Land.

His Majesty expressed his dissatisfaction over the insecurity of his people as a result of near daily kidnapping which cannot be acceptable in a sane and orderly society.

Kabiyesi pointed this out through a Press Statement signed and released by his Special Assistant Media, Sam Adewale, in Owo after the Olowo in Council’s meeting yesterday 7th May, 2025, convened to take major decisions after series of meetings since Kabiyesi’ s arrival from overseas tour on the issue of insecurity that has been very concerning.

The Council appraised the level of security plans already put in place in the various communities, quarters and neighborhoods in Owo land and instructed all Quarter Heads to be proactive in the implementation of the Vigilante Groups dedicated for the security of our communities, quarters and neighborhoods in synergy with the Security Agencies.

These security groups will serve as important line of intelligence and protection by ensuring that they respond swiftly to any potential threat with synergy across board.

During the meeting, Kabiyesi appreciated the efforts of the Standing Youths under their able Coordinator, Chief Arogho Adekunle Asobe, who have voluntarily undertaken some steps to reduce this unwarranted scourge in the society.

He assured the youths of his support and notable members of the kingdom. Kabiyesi therefore urged members of the public to cooperate fully with our vigilante groups so as to ensure effectiveness of this onerous assignment.

Also, Council observed that some members of the kingdom were into cow business. Such individuals were urged, as matter of necessity, to embrace ranching to set example for others in this environment, geared towards solutions to herders farmers conflicts.

In light of the foregoing , and in order to address incidents of crime, as well as to ensure conducive atmosphere for cohabitation with the people of the northern extraction, the Council decided that a well known leader be appointed for the Hausa/Fulani indigenes in Owo Land, who will assist in coordinating the affairs of the people from the Northern part of the country, particularly in relation to security, just as we have leaders for other nationalities.

In another development, the Council expressed gratitude for the warm hospitality accorded His Majesty by the Owo indigenes during Kabiyesi’s tour of Australia and the United States of America. In particular, Council commended Chief Dr and Chief (Mrs ) Olabode Osedimilehin, the Baasegun and Yeye Baasegun of Owo Kingdom, for being very hospitable to the throne in Australia.

The Council also thanked the entire members of the World Council of Owo Association-WOCOA, Atlanta Chapter led by Dr Yakubu Owolabi and other members from other Chapters across the USA, with the support of the National body ably led by the President,Dr Adebayo Ogunmolawa.

His Majesty pointed out that, the hospitality was not only heartwarming but also a testament to the strength of our shared values and the bonds that united Owo Land as indivisible entity.

The revered Monarch, emphasized the useful time spent together to discuss various issues concerning the development of the land, most especially the current security challenges bedeviling the kingdom with a view to finding solutions, which is most appreciated. together we can create a safe environment for ourselves and future generations.
