Staffs of the National Identity Management Commission, NIMC, has asked President Muhammadu Buhari-led government to address their demands or risk another strike action.

The commission in a statement on Wednesday, January 13 by the Chairman, Association of Senior Civil Servants of Nigeria, NIMC Chapter, Asekokhai Lucky, threatened that it would shut down its offices should the government failed to act positively to their demands.

Mr Lucky who spoke on Channels Television programme today asked the Buhari government to see the 20-day window of the suspended industrial action as an advantage to address all their demands.

According to the NIMC chairman, the Minister of Communications and Digital Economy, Isa Ali Pantami, is yet to be available for the meeting where he is expected to address the issue even though the workers had suspended the strike for a course.

Newspot understands that the commission’s headquarters had cried out that it is lacking in adequate computers among others, insisting that it slows down the pace of work. The workers lamented over minutes it takes to register and capture individual’s data.

Recall that the workers of the Commission last week embarked on a warning strike, protesting poor welfare and the lack of motivation.

The strike was, however, suspended on Monday after the Minister of Communication and Digital Economy intervened.

Meanwhile, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has condemned the administration of President Muhammadu Buhari over the handling of the COVID-19 second-wave in Nigeria.

Newspot reports that the main opposition party called on Buhari to dissolve the Presidential Task Force on COVID-19 over alleged incompetence.
