Nigerian youths, I hail oooooo
Due to my job especially as a Coach and a Mentor, I have seen all manner of unbelievable things in the last 10 years especially in our great Country. So, permit me to share a few with us as we celebrate our 59th birthday with a sad cake.
Our youths watch all forms of international contents ranging from movies to social media and that has shaped their expectations, but they’ve been unable to tone down their knowledge to fit into space they are in (Nigeria) hence they complain.
They are frustrated and are always yearning to – GBE BODY E – that is, go meet the grass that appears greener on the other side of OBODO OYINBO (The Abroad😁).
So, they are INTERNATIONALLY ORIENTED BUT LOCALLY IRRELEVANT. They know the names of Kardashian family members who have no direct or indirect impact on their local government, but they don’t care to know their ward councillors, local government chairman, House of Rep members or Senators let alone Governors.
Especially for the millennial youths and partly Generation Z both at home and abroad who were raised with an entitlement mentality. So, our youths complain of the following: lack of quality educational system, bad leadership, poor economy, and poor infrastructure, amongst others.
However, the real question is how do you complain of a bad country when you are irresponsible in your civic duties?
So, our youths will prefer to dance Shakushaku than to come out and vote on election day.
Sowore is still in detention despite the court order which has been disobeyed by the Federal Government. What have Nigerian Youths done about this? You hear people say, shebi na him wan become President? Make him use his political platform to do election revolution naaaaaaa.
Nigerian senators are buying N5.5BN worth of brand-new cars but many states can’t pay N30,000 minimum wage. In fact, the FG just denied recently of promising new minimum wage.
Nigerian youths will shout “TUALE BABA” when they come to churches or mosques or our street just for the GREEDY politicians to drop crumbs for the agile and muscular but LAZY youths.
When pare being kidnapped, the average Nigerian youth will rather go and pray or do African insurance to protect himself and family neglecting others. When power holding people decide to dance disco with our light, we go buy generator, when Fashola boys no do our roads, we pray, sow seeds and buy jeeps, when our public schools are short of teachers and infrastructures are dilapidated, we pay ridiculously for private schools.
How can we pay N2M for a one-year old kid in a creche? Is that CLASS or CRAZE? – How selfish and unreasonable can we be as a people?
Many young Nigerians like Fela Durotoye, Banky W, Kingsley Moghalu contested in the last election but Nigerian youths preferred to vote for recycled old people who have been standing trials for corruption charges for ages just because of N5000 and one tin of rice and they will say – “na my own share of the stolen money I dey collect”.
In 2018, over 170 million votes were cast on Big Brother Naija show by the same Nigerian youths. At N30 per SMS, that is N5.1b in revenue from SMS ALONE. These same youths can’t donate money for the members of their constituency who contested for an election; they would rather castigate and condemn such bold contestants
When you as youth start to defend fraudsters on social media, then NOW YOUR SUFFERING CONTINUES (NYSC).
Why are Nigerians youths so obsessed with getting money? Why embrace these abominable things in order to get rich? Why indulge in selling own babies, eating of human and animal faeces, using biological parents for rituals and drug abuse? It’s like prostitution is now a career, all in the name of just to get money.
Where is our conscience?
Where is the result of churches and mosques we go to every week?
What is our Nigeria becoming? Nigerians both young and old will never GBE BODY E to dance and teach their children – BATA MI DUN KOKOKA, TI N BA KAWE MI….OMO MI SEUN RERE TI E A DARA OOOOOO but rather sing and dance to the self-degrading music – “IF YOU NO GET MONEY, HIDE YOUR FACE” and people will be screaming Chaiii, Chaiii, dias God oooooo.
If I don’t have money, that doesn’t mean I should hide my face because money never created me as a human being.
Who told these young people that money you make in dubious way will last or haven’t you read in the good book that Like a partridge that hatches eggs it did not lay are those who gain riches by unjust means? When their lives are half gone, their riches will desert them, and in the end, they will prove to be fools.
Nigerian youths will never GBE BODY E to demand for good governance and act against injustice, but they can fight, insult and curse each other on Social Media because a group is Team CHARTERED AND another Team SCATTERED who are both BLEACHING AMBASSADORS.
Before una come after me on social media, I nor fight you but wetin I dey talk be say
#Una Don Sleep Too Much
Until we GBE OUR SENSE NOT JUST OUR BODY – THAT IS WAKE UP FROM OUR ACT OF IRRESPONSIBILITY, NOTHING CHANGES.
REMEMBER, IT IS IRRESPONSIBILITY THAT MAKES A MAN A LIABILITY.
To whom brain is given, sense is expected
