Oyo State Governor Seyi Makinde on Wednesday felicitated with the Olubadan of Ibadanland, Oba Saliu Adetunji, Aje Ogungunniso I, as he turns 92.
Makinde, in a statement by his Chief Press Secretary, Mr. Taiwo Adisa, said the foremost monarch “personifies greatness and honour.”
He added that the tenure of the monarch, who he described as a royal pillar and custodian of Ibadan’s great values, rich history and tradition, has witnessed huge successes, unprecedented growth and development in his domain.
The Ajia Balogun Olubadan, Oloye Adegboyega Adegoke, has joined other well-meaning Nigerians, Oyo State Government, Council of Chiefs, royal family and Ibadan indigenes in extolling the visionary and purposeful leadership of Ìba Adetunji on his 92nd birthday.
Felicitating with the monarch, Adegoke wished him more years of good health and strength.
He hailed the traditional ruler for promoting peaceful co-existence and respect for religions and diverse cultures in the state and country.
Ajia Balogun noted that Oba Adetunji had successfully carried on with the legacies of his forefathers, “dating back to the 16th century, with an intentional focus to uphold the beautiful traditions of hospitality, respect for authorities and communal development that has always defined the throne.’’
He praised the royal father for his maturity and wise counsels to leaders and indigenes alike, advising the younger generation to toe the line of good education and entrepreneurship.
He prayed that the Almighty God would continue to protect Oba Adetunji and his family, and grant him more strength to look after his subjects.
